update

  • Nov. 10th, 2009 at 12:13 PM

With the new baby and mummy being on maternity leave, we have indeed left our blogs aside for some time, so much so that Daddy has to take on the blogging (prev entry was blogged by Daddy!).

Mummy was back to work last Tue 3 Nov so perhaps we will see more updates on the blog.  During Mummy's matenity leave, I really enjoy coming home on the school bus and seeing Mummy at home.  Mummy spent most of the maternity leave being at home, since it was hard to go out with the breastfeeding and all.  Ma Ma stayed over during the 1st month of confinement and helped us out.  Mummy ordered confinement tingkat so that Ma Ma did not have to cook.  The folks did not want a confinement lady this round as Mummy said she had enough women in the house!  So Mummy, Ma Ma and the maid were sufficient to look after all 3 of us.

After the 1st month of confinement, Mummy spent most of her time resting and watching korean dramas.  It all started when she took out a set of VCD that Aunty Li Gin lent her when she had me in 2006.  Aunty Li Gin lent her the drama serial since she was on maternity leave then.  But with me, she somehow did not get around to watch it or felt any urge to watch it.  She actually still had the VCDs till 2009 and this time round, since Ma Ma was around to look after the baby in the day, Mummy had a lot more free time and thought she'd try watching a korean drama.  Never did she expected herself to get quite hooked on it from then on!  hehe.  That was her first drama "Sang Doo goes to school" with Rain being the main actor.

After returning the "2006" set to Aunty Li Gin (who also had her 3rd baby!  Just a month after us!) when Mummy visited her, Aunty Li Gin gave Mummy another set of drama to watch.  Mummy requested for a show with the same good-looking actor that she really liked from "Sang Doo goes to school".  Aunty Li Gin had another series with that actor and thus Mummy happily came home with her 2nd set of korean drama starring the very good-looking Lee Dong Gun.  Mummy enjoyed this 2nd serial "Stained Glass" as well.

Then she went on to rent her 3rd korean drama "Lovers in Paris" which she enjoyed trememdously again.  Of course Lee Dong Gun was also in this serial.  She also rented the 4th korean drama "Sweet 18" and another 2 movies.   Yeah it's the LDG season now for her.

Besides watching korean drams, Mummy also brought us out on outings with some of my classmates and their mummies.  Mummy is extremely thankful to have found a group of mummy friends with these mummies of my classmates.  The mummies have been going out for breakfasts after sending us to school and on other occasions organised some outings for us.  We would find ourselves at Polliwogs, we also had an outing to Bollywood Veggies and Goat Farm, and recently went to Kidzworld in the zoo before Mummy went back to work.  More acitivites coming in Dec I heard!  :)

I performed at my FIRST kindergarten concert on 31 Oct 2009!  It was an exciting time for mummy and daddy as this is THE year that both their kids are performing!  Ha makes buying the tickets more worthwhile!
Both Gor Gor & me were involved in the concert... very sad that it will be the last year for Gor Gor!
Can you see me in the pic (taken at the finale when all the children come back on stage)?  Daddy wants to be an obedient parent so when they said no photography, he refrained from taking any pics of the performance.  We ordered the photos taken by the school at our full dress rehearsal.  Hope I can post them after I collect them!
I am in a pre-historic shakers dance using the "Flintstone" song.  I got a cardboard bone in my hair!

2 Years and 10 months

Oops, skipped a couple of months. I guess our baby sister's arrival is quite a handful for everybody. Daddy has been busy taking pictures but no one has time to upload them... until now that is... anyway just a few pictures taken over the past two months.

Jul. 20th, 2009

I am 2 years and 7 months old today.

The folks find me a rather bossy little girl.  Maybe it's good I shall have a younger sibling to boss over soon!

I order Gor Gor around and sometimes scold or nag at him.

Last Thur, as we were getting ready to leave the house for his chinese class at Berries, Mummy called out to Gor Gor to go wear his shoes as we have to leave.  As usual, he was still engrossed playing with his toys and did not respond immediately.  I went up to him and helped to hurry him, "Gor Gor!  Wear your shoes!  Quickly, your bai li guo (Berries) class is starting already!"

There was this other evening the folks were so amused, but trying hard to hide their laughter (as it was indeed rather rude of me and they should not encourage such behaviour) when I referred to my Ye Ye as "Old Man"!

Ma Ma was teasing Ye Ye when he was coughing like an ah pek, while washing dishes and she called him an "old man".  So I simply followed after her and said to him, "Old Man!"  hee hee.

Last Saturday 18 July, it was Parent-Teacher session at our kindy.  Unlike Gor Gor, the reports on me are rather positive and nice to hear!  hehe.  They say girls are generally more well behaved and less mischievous, well, in our case it is true.  Thanks to having an older sibling, I seem to be more advanced than my Gor Gor in many areas, like speech and social development.  My teacher told Mummy that I sometimes behave like a small adult, wanting to help teachers arrange chairs, telling my classmates to sit down, telling a crying classmate not to cry as mummy will come back later, and pressing the tap for them to wash their hands in the toilet.  But I am still the smallest kid in the class so it's rather amusing.

On Friday 17 Jul, our family went for a photoshoot.  We did some family photos and also maternity shots for Mummy.  Well it wasn't easy to get me to cooperate as I was shy and wary of strangers.  Didn't really want to be in the photoshoot and the people had to try very hard to make funny faces and say funny things to make me smile....hehe.

So here're 2 recent (professionally taken!) pictures of me to show!  Quite nicely taken, Mummy thought!

I am 2.5 years old

  • Jun. 29th, 2009 at 12:14 PM

Sat 20 June 2009

I turned two and a half years old on 20 June 2009!

I used to be the youngest around... with the arrival of our very first cousin, Baby Sophie, I am not so "young" anymore!  I have been saying "I jie jie already!"...hehe... I will indeed be a "jie jie" when Mummy's baby comes out... the folks still aren't too used to that, I am still "mei mei" at home and the little girl!  Can't imagine me being a "jie jie"!  hee hee.

We went to the zoo on 20 June 2009 (as posted on Gor Gor's blog already) so it was quite a special day.

A photo of me taken at the zoo on 20.6.2009

Daddy and Mummy's favourite picture of me at the moment.. they say I look so lovely in the photo, hehe.  A photo that certainly make their day!  : )

June holiday play date

  • Jun. 12th, 2009 at 11:12 AM

Wed 10 June 2009

Mummy was on leave, yippee hurray!  Mummy took leave to join another few mummies for a play date at Fidgets.  All thanks to Timothy's mummy who is so friendly to initiate a play date for the kids in my pre-nursery class.  Mummy also helped by preparing a little note for all the children in my class on the last day of school, so they could bring home the note and their mummies could contact my mummy if they are interested to join in.

The turn-out was not too bad, 5 mummies gathered and it was a nice group size to get to know one another better, so there was me, Isaac, Timothy, Ryan and Yee Shan.  My mummy was the only working mum... how i wish my mummy could stay home too, think my mummy wishes for that much more than me!

My gor gor came along too of course and he truly enjoyed himself playing and playing.  My Gor Gor loves to play, especially in ball pits.   We were amused how easily children make friends.  Mummy spotted him holding hands with this little girl (well, the girl was taller than my small gor gor of course) at one point and they were going to different parts of the playground together.  Cute.

My First School Excursion

  • Jun. 3rd, 2009 at 5:06 PM

Tue 26 May 2009
The Pre-Nursery classes were brought to "The Gingerbread Man" show at the Alliance Francaise theatre.  It was my very first school excursion!  Since we were only Pre-N children, mummies/daddies were allowed to come along, well, if they pay of course!

Mummy took leave and came along with me.  She did not want to miss my 1st excursion experience for anything!   We left the school on the big bus at about 9.30 am.  We were going for the 11 am show and so there was some waiting time before the show.

Well, I did not exactly sit through the whole performance.  About halfway through the show, with the dim lighting, nice cool air-conditioning, a little girl like felt sleepy and with the comfort of Mummy around, I felt sleepy and started to ask to sit on Mummy's lap and also wanting my "never-leave-home-without-it" comfort pillow.  They left my pillow in the school bag that was left in school.  Big mistake.  So there was no pillow for me and I got upset.  Mummy had to take me out of the theatre when I was beginning to cry, so as not to disturb the show.

So there we were, out in the lobby area, Mummy buying me a can of Milo from the vending machine to comfort me and distract my attention.  After a while, I was all right and we went back to the theatre but sat at the last row.  We managed to see the last bit of the show and wave goodbye to the characters.  That was my 1st excursion!

When we got back to school, we were served some lunch and I had a bowl of pasta shells with soup.  Mummy was glad she decided to let me stay for lunch because I fell asleep quite quickly in the car as Mummy sent me home.  Glad I took my lunch in school rather than go home for lunch.

Mummy had the rest of the afternoon to get a little break from work.  I heard she went for facial and then a nice afternoon tea at Lawry's Ribs with Daddy.  It was their very first visit to the restaurant and they truly enjoyed the wonderful yet not too expensive (just $12 person) English afternoon tea.  Glad they had a nice break for themselves!

I am 29 months

  • May. 21st, 2009 at 2:49 PM

20 May 2009 - I am 29 months old

Mummy was trying hard to snap a picture of me yesterday, when I turned 29 months old.  It was tough, I kept moving away or do silly actions like putting my school bag strap into my mouth or sticking out my tongue at Mummy.  :p

I am quite enjoying school.  My teacher told Mummy I am tiny but I like to boss my friends and tell them off... hehe.   My teacher told Mummy I was helping to carry chairs and asking the boys to sit down on one occasion.  Another time when we finished our outdoor play and were walking back to class, I stood there and told my friends, "don't run ah!  don't run ah...."  Teacher thought it was quite funny esp I am so tiny!

Next month I'll be 2 and a half!  wow!

A picture Mummy took of me after school, while waiting for the school bus.

27 months old

  • May. 5th, 2009 at 3:29 PM

Oops, I think we missed out an entry on 20 March for my 27 months...  that was the day we went for a short stayover at Rasa Sentosa during Mar hols and after we checked out, Mummy brought Gor Gor and me for a haircut at a special place and made use of the 1-for-1 offer she received.

Mummy missed out the entry on my 27 months probably because Mummy was hoping to receive the pictures from Curly N Spike but they did not come for a long time.... until Mummy called up again and we received it today!

One of the "memorable" things I did on 20 March (my 27th month) is to have a haircut!  A proper one at a salon!

I guess you can call it my "first haircut"...  though I have had my hair trimmed before, but usually just by grandma, or at a hairdresser who operates from home.

Just for memory sake.... my haircut at Curly N Spike!

mummy's dream...

A "dream".... : )

There is something that mummy really likes about this photo...

I am 28 months today

  • Apr. 20th, 2009 at 6:37 PM

20 April 2009

I am 28 months today  - 2 years and 4 months old.

I am slightly above 10 kg I think... the smallest in my class and I think I am the youngest child in the whole of Pre-Nursery at school!  (at least for the AM session that I attend)

Little Miss Sunshine

  • Apr. 3rd, 2009 at 9:36 AM

There was a period in February where Mummy and her co-workers in the office were going ga-ga over the Litte Miss Tees sold in Bossini.  Everyone bought one and wore it to work one day and they even took a group photo.

Of course, our family was not excluded and Mummy happily searched for matching tees for all 4 of us.  She was glad to find even the Mr Mens Tees though they were quite limited in variety and size by the time she found them.  Daddy got Mr Cool and I got Mr Impossible.  Thanks Daddy for being sporting to wear matching tees and letting Mummy contribute many times to Bossini!

On 25 February, we took the opportunity to wear our matching tees to 舅母's (Jiu Jiu's wife) surprise birthday party.  Jiu Jiu was very sweet to organise a surprise birthday party for her at MacDonald's.  He quietly contacted all their friends and our families.  Cool!  That was probably the only "adult" Mac party that you ever went to.

Gor Gor and I were the only kids around!

the homely girl?

  • Mar. 16th, 2009 at 11:13 AM

This is something worth blogging, for my own record and keepsake.

It is something memorable about the growing up of me, little Aurora.

Something memorable about what little Aurora likes to say very often at this stage of her life (being 2 and about 3 months old)

"I want to go home" or "I want to go home already" (often said in a manja, soft and gentle tone, sometimes even whispering to the ear)

Just a few examples:
At Jiu Jiu's wife's (ie 舅母) surprise birthday party last month, within minutes of arriving at the party venue (MacDonalds!  All kids love it).
Aurora: I want to go home already.

At Disney Princess On Ice over the weekend (14 Mar), after watching the show for 5 minutes.
Aurora: I want to go home.

At the BBQ on Sat evening (14 Mar) to celebrate 姨婆 and Daddy's birthday.
Aurora: I want to go home, I want to go home (towards the end of the party this time, nearly 9 pm, was indeed late but the BBQ was still going on, Gor Gor happily fanning the fire)

At  Po Po's (婆婆) house on Sat morning, Mummy has to work so we are at Po Po's house.
Aurora to the maid: I want to go home, Aunty L.  Please I want to go home already

At my Little Lambs (Sunday school at church), just a while into the class, the teacher was asking me some questions & mummy was with me.
Aurora: I want to go home.

Well, Daddy and Mummy are often very amused at me and my "i want to go home".  Gor Gor is more of the opposite, always asking where are we going next... and reluctant to leave a place esp when he's having fun.  Mummy and Daddy hopes I will be a "homely" girl if that's how I am.  hee hee.  大家闺秀哦!

another school update

  • Mar. 16th, 2009 at 10:43 AM

It's the school holidays! Guess I can say this is my FIRST "school holiday" since I am now a "school-going" kiddo!

Ma Ma has gone for a holiday in Taiwan so Gor Gor and I are at Po Po's house when Mummy works. Mummy says we can look forward to the 2nd half of this week because she will be on leave and Daddy and Mummy will spend some fun time with me and Gor Gor... hurray!

My first school term is now over. I can say I am getting better with the "separation anxiety". The week before last, I had a fever so I stayed home on Mon and Tue. After that, it was tough getting me back in school, perhaps I was feeling unwell Mummy thought, because I was all clingy again and cried when Mummy left and cried as usual on the bus. I would also skip my lunch because I was too tired to eat when I got home. I only wanted to sleep and ended up taking a nap till 3 or 4 pm. When I got up, I only wanted milk and did not want any food. Not surprised that Ma Ma was upset again about me going to school and losing my appetite as a result, not eating lunch and eating less at dinner as well.

Last week, I got better again. I was happy to go to school, let my teacher carry me when Mummy handed me over to my sweet loving teacher (the same who taught Gor Gor before) and I did not cry when Mummy said bye. I also did not cry when my teacher passed me to the Bus Auntie. Mummy was always around to say bye from a distance when Gor Gor and I go up the school bus.

So since last week, I fared much better and enjoyed school. I also did not ask to sleep after reaching home, I did eat my lunch (though Ma Ma said I ate less than before now) and then have my nap after lunch.

Mummy hopes I will stay the same when school re-opens next week!

i am 26 months

i am 26 months today.

oops think Mummy forgot to take a picture of me today.

Let's pick a photo from our Feb 09 collection then.

school update

  • Feb. 16th, 2009 at 12:12 PM

Glad to report I am getting better with the school bus.

Last Friday, my teacher sms-ed Mummy and told her that I did not cry when put on the bus.  Coincidentally, it was a day where Gor Gor was not with me on the bus.  He was having a bit of a fever and rashes so Mummy took him to the doctor after dropping me off at school.  Mummy was a ltitle worried as it was the first time Gor Gor would not be with me on the bus.... Teacher told Mummy she brought me out to see my other little friends who had to take the school bus and patiently explained to me that it was all right.  She also gave me a yakult to cheer me up.

My cries are much shorter now, even when I did cry... especially when Mummy leaves the classroom after handing me over to my teacher, I would burst out in tears, but I feel all right soon after.

Last Wed, Mummy was on MC and she was resting at home.  So she had the opportunity to receive me when I came back on the school bus.  I am always happy to see Mummy waiting for me.  Mummy was relieved I also did not cry when Bus Auntie handed me over to her.

We managed to take pictures, as a memory for me.

Just for record & memory - rara's sentences

  • Feb. 12th, 2009 at 10:21 AM

Mummy thinks I am pretty good at talking, well, better than my gor gor when he was my age she thought!  Maybe because I am a girl and faster with speech.

Mummy was quite impressed with some of the things I said by myself.... at least they were whole sentences!

Example 1:
(In the car, Gor Gor was calling for Mummy's attention)
I told Gor Gor : "Don't disturb Mummy, Mummy is driving!"
Mummy: *impressed & amused*

Example 2:
(Last night at bedtime, as I was rolling about on Mummy's bed, Mummy came to me, wanting to put on my diaper for the night)
Mummy:  Rara, time to wear your diaper.
Me: I dun want...
Mummy: You have to wear your diaper at night, what if you shh shh when you sleep?
Me: no... no shh shh.... see! no shh shh (pointing at my bum bum)  I shh shh in the toilet already!
Mummy (thinking to herself): "I shh shh in the toilet already" wow... whole sentence, so funny!

Happy Chinese New Year!

My first week in school

  • Feb. 2nd, 2009 at 10:02 AM

As mentined in the previous post, I started my first week of Pre-Nursery on 19 Jan 2009.

The Pre-Nursery batch starts their school term much later than the rest of the school. They also spilt the Pre-N children into 2 batches. The first batch (with older siblings in the same school) will start on 19 Jan and the second batch (the really "new" comers) will start on 2 Feb.

I belong to the first batch so I started on 19 Jan. I was given a week's trial since Mummy was still deciding whether to give up my place since Ma Ma is not happy about sending me to school at such a young age.  It would be sad to give up my place (with such a long waiting list for am session esp!) without even trying.  Would be hard to get a place for me later as they would immediately fill the vacancy if I choose to give up my place.

I would say I coped pretty well in my first week at school. I did not really cry due to separation anxiety. I cried a little when I had a little fall at the playground. Especially with Mummy accompanying me at school for the whole week (except Thur), I was quite happy to be in school. I especially enjoy the outdoor play, so it's always easy for Mummy to say bye or take her leave when we go to the playgound/sand pit/water play area. I would happily hold my classmates' hands and off we go marching towards the outdoor play area.  On the 4th day Mummy had to work so she couldn't go accompany me the whole time, but I was all right on my own.  Only cried when Gong Gong came to help fetch me and Gor Gor and I realised Mummy wasn't coming along in the car so I started crying.

My first week went on quite well, teacher said I coped rather well and was quite independent and advanced for a Dec baby.

The difficult part came when Mummy decided to let me have a go on the bus in my 2nd week. (we had 3 days holiday for 1st 3 days for CNY) so school started again on Thur 29 Jan.) We had our CNY celebration on 29 Jan and I went to school in my CNY outfit. When it was dismissal time, I accidentally spotted my mummy who was trying to hide from me so I cried for her. Mummy came and stayed with me for a while, but left again for the teacher to take me to wait for Gor Gor to board the school bus together. It was a frigtening experience for me and I was rather upset. Cried when I was put on the bus and cried again when I alighted from the school bus though Mummy was there to pick me. Mummy thought it wouldn't be too bad since Gor Gor was on the same bus but I reacted otherwise. On Friday, I was put on the bus again and it was the same story. I cried again on the bus and when Grandma picked me up, I cried again and she cried with me. Gor Gor didn't help very much in repeating that "Mei mei doesn't like the bus!" to Grandma. Mummy may try to ask to go on the bus with me to help me get used to it and not worry about the bus... we'll see what happens and if that helps me.

So, school is quite ok for me but not the bus... we have a "bus" problem now. I should better adapt to taking the school bus or it'll be hard to convince and assure Grandma that school is good for me.

Just to share some pictures of me in school!

Some pictures of me in school

i am 25 months today

  • Jan. 20th, 2009 at 11:13 PM

i am 2 years and 1 month old. This week marks a milestone. I started my pre-nursery in the same school as my gor gor. I am trying out. Parents haven't quite decided whether to pull out. We managed to get grandma to agree to let me try it out first. I've got much more to update so continue to watch this space. Mummy is on leave to be in school with me so she can only update through her hp.

My comfort my best friend

  • Jan. 6th, 2009 at 3:56 PM

I think my little journal would not be complete without an entry about my favourite thing - my comfort & my "best friend".  I have to tell you about it.

I call it PILLOW.  PILLOW is best accompanied with my thumb.

I love my PILLOW and my thumb.  Mummy says it's pretty good for me, since I can comfort myself and soothe myself very well, as long as I have my PILLOW and my thumb.  I can also coax myself to sleep as long as I have my pillow and suck my yummy thumb along with it.

Here's introducing my PILLOW!

PILLOW is very precious.  We have to bring it along with us when we go out and we must never lose it!
(I dun get it why the adults must steal my pillow and wash it every now and then!  It does upsets me so)

hmm.... bliss.
